Keeping it simple... Keeping it real!

X-Rated

Being an avid movie buff I check out the latest news on IMDB.com everyday to stay up to date on what is happening in Hollywood. Last week I came across this news…

“Beloved TV sitcom Happy Days is set for the porn treatment, thanks to Hustler video bosses. After giving The Munsters, Gilligan’s Island, and The Brady Bunch the X-rated treatment, Hustler film bosses are now ready to sex up The Fonz, Richie Cunningham and the gang.” IMDB.com

For many years the porn industry has taken good wholesome TV shows and movies, like Driving Miss Daisy, Highway to Heaven, and even 7th Heaven, and used them as nothing more than a vehicle to sell their wares. There’s even rumor of one company making a pornographic version of The Passion of the Christ!

The Word reveals to us God’s attitude towards pornography. Two revealing passages: “I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:28 and “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18

Many believers complain about things like porn, but do we ever take the time to pray against the porn industry and pray for the precious men and women who are trapped in this evil industry? Therefore let us pray that God, through his Holy Spirit, will somehow reach out to these people and bring them to a realization and understanding of who he is and what he can do for them. Let us pray that less people will be lured into the porn industry by the promise of fame and wealth only to find themselves trapped in lives ruled by sexual sin. And let us pray that more and more people will stop watching porn and that as a result we will begin to see the porn studios closing down.

Some say that we are fighting an impossible battle. I say that with God all things are possible. So instead of just complaining, let’s pray!

  1. Porn, like drugs and booze and sex itself is addictting and destructive. At 52 years of age I’m still sufferring from “my first” being a 26 year old women, when I just barely turned 17 in 1975. Who could I have complained to back then. She supposedly made me a man. A man now celibate 15 years with a short 5 month active status where I quickly found out how easily sex bores me. Thank God for Jesus. My life is abundantly full.

    • Thanks Jim for your comments. Many people don't realize going in that sex is as destructive as drugs and alcohol, as you pointed out. May God continue to bless you as you follow Him! Chris
