I,m so sorry for the Sweet family's loss. I just read about it today, 3/3/11. I had read her blogs as she went through treatment a few years ago. I met her back in 1986 at a concert. I had taken members of our youth group to Stryper concerts back before many Christians acknowledged what a powerful message they had.
I had bought so many of the Stryper calendars and (at that time) records for the kids, and then CDs when they came out. I still have a box of them unopened, that I had left which is what made me decide to look at the website and read of Kyle's death. I'm so sorry to hear of the family's loss. I had seen Elena and Michael's pictures in the local when she had a dance recital a while back. I'm glad Michael has found a wife to spend his life with. No one will ever take the place of Kyle, but God has a plan and Michael is a godly man that will always do what is right for his children. Kyle would have wanted him to have a fulfilling family life like they had. Our prayers are with them. Years ago I was backstage at the Worcester Memorial Auditorium at a concert when one of my group had left a jacket inside. I went back in to find it and I met Robert and Michael who introduced themselves and told me that I looked like their mother and talked a bit.
We went to a concert in NYC a while later when there was a bit of a riot because there were protests because of the group they were playing with. Two of my children and I were hurt, and missed most of the concert. Joe Viera of Shatter the Darkness Ministries told them about it and sometime later when they appeared at Great Woods they gave us tickets and invited us backstage. It was quite a witness to the children that were with me to see what gentlemen all four of them were. And to see them praying with the kids was quite a message to them. We still have the pictures as a remembrance. God is in control, and he has a purpose for us all. We will keep the family in prayer. Jeanne Marks

Thanks for your rant... Firstly, God doesn't give anyone cancer. We live in a world tainted by sin and most cancers are a result of human failing (not God's). We eat food tainted by greed (GMO products) that have been sprayed with all kinds of stuff and had their genetic structures altered by Frankenstein type scientists. We breathe air and drink water that have also been polluted. Our cars put out pollution as do our factories. Some smoke, drink heavily, and do drugs. With all of this combined (plus lots more) should we be surprised that some of us will get sick? Secondly, God is in the healing business yes, but sometimes the healing that happens is internal (spiritual). Yes, God heals some people physically, but God is more interested in where we will spend eternity and as such he oftentimes heals the inner person.

Just because we believe in God and decide to follow Him does not mean we get a get out jail free card with respect to living in this tainted world. Christians still suffer, feel pain and experience joy, just like everyone else on this planet. Following God is not going to make us rich, powerful, and healthy at all times, unless spiritually speaking of course.

Cancer is nasty. My own father died of cancer and it was not nice to watch him die. And my heart goes out to anyone who has or is dealing with this horrible condition. Do I have an answer why God didn't answer my prayers to heal my father physically? No. But hopefully in the short time I spent with him before his death he allowed God into his life to heal him on the inside... and hopefully he is now sitting with God.

You call it stupid to believe in this... I call it hope. What is your eternal hope in?

Blessings
Chris

Dear jesus I pray that you continue to help the sweet family through their difficult journey, and let them know that people from Australia and all over the world are praying for them. Please jesus i pray that you let Michael know that the reason kyle is not with us anymore is because Jesus loved her so much that he wanted her in to go to heaven and have a peaceful eternal life with Jesus. How lucky is she. I pray Jesus, that you let Michael and his family know that he will be re-united with Kyle in Heaven. Amen.

I totally agree with you Dee. I too thank God for the example that men of faith, like Michael Sweet and your husband, can trust in God no matter what comes their way. As I write this I am saddened that Kyle has now passed on to be with the Lord, but thankful that her fight is now over and that in Christ she has won!

When I see Michael's bedrock faith and perserverance to Kyle, it moves me to tears. When I hear him sing songs like "Honestly", and "Together As One", I know he must have written them out of his overwhelming love and devotion to her. He, as well as the Lord, surely has been her rock of strength during this challenging time of their faith. My prayers go out to you Michael, and Kyle, and your children, that God wrap His loving arms around you all and give you strength to stand, no matter what the outcome. That your faith will be unwavering, because God can do the miraculous! When men walk away and say "It's impossible', that's when the Lord moves to get Him some glory!
The music of Stryper has much sentimental meaning to me. It was the music of Stryper playing in the background in 1989, when my husband Craig and I fell in love.My husband is another example of a rock of unwaivering faith. He has stood by my side weeping and praying in the night when I too was battling a long agonizing, horrifically painful disease. His prayers helped me to perservere. In 2006, we both thought that death was surely at my door, after a week of a raging infection, that most likely had traveled into my bloodstream. He told me how he paced the floor all night, crying, interceding, and travailing for God to let me live, and not die. He did not want anyone else, or have to start over again, or have his children lose their mother. Miraculously, the next morning after over a week of mental confusion, and dementia, from my blood being poisoned by the infection, the fog began to clear, and I began to feel like my old self again! Glory to God! I truly thank God for godly men like Craig and Michael who dare to have, (as my now deceased Pastor use to call it,) "A pit bull faith mentality".They dare to believe God against all the odds!

Kyle & Michael Sweet,
Your family has lived the example for all of us to see.
Two people together, who have devoted thier lives to one another,
with your convicted values about God's ways leading you.
It has been my joy to listen to your music over the years,
and understanding how much you two have clung to one another
like glue over your years together, will add so much more
everytime I listen to your music in the future, because Stryper's
music IS reflective of the foundation built only because you two
committed to building a Genuinely Loving Family.
Thank YOU two, and Thank God for using the Sweet's
as an example of the joy God's creation of marriage, brings,
when done with Him as our guide.
Thank You KYLE for ALL you have GIVEN,
as "Giving" is what it is ALL about!!!
