PC… the Patience Counselor!
When it comes to computers I have a love hate relationship with them. Today I spent the better part of five hours installing and uninstalling software in a bid to get my computer to run more smoothly… and faster. One mistake had me restoring my system, one piece of software didn’t want to uninstall, another didn’t want to install… AHHHH! It’s enough to make someone punch their computer really hard with a baseball bat! Obviously I didn’t otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this, I would be out buying a new computer.
In the last several years I have had around five computers and they have all had their fair share of problems, nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a little patience and computer savvy. But it got me to thinking that maybe God allowed the PC to be created to test us. Let’s face it, He could have stopped the PC being built, but He didn’t. And why? Because he wanted us to learn patience in a unique way
The PC has always been understood to stand for Personal Computer. But I think we have it wrong… it should stand for Patience Counselor as PC’s have taught me (and many others) more patience than any other thing. Sure we need patience when dealing with family and friends sometimes. We often need patience with bosses and customers and church people. And to be sure patience is something we need when dealing with kids and parents.
But PC’s are the ultimate patience training machines. Think about this, if believers really wanted to learn the art of patience they should be sat in front of a temperamental PC and told to chillax… I wonder how many people would graduate?
Yours in Him, and happy my PC’s now working a charm,
