X-Bible
I was reading today that B&H Publishing Group, a division of LifeWay Christian Resources, will release the “Bible Navigator X” program for the Xbox 360 in early December. The Bible application will be downloadable through the “Indie Games” channel of Xbox.com.
“This application will bring the Bible into people’s living rooms and onto their televisions in a completely new and innovative way,” said Aaron Linne, B&H Publishing Group’s executive producer of digital marketing, in a statement Tuesday. “The Xbox isn’t just secular entertainment anymore. We can use technology that other people developed to study Scriptures through a new medium.”
Linne, a self-described gamer and tech geek, added, “Some people are just more comfortable with a controller in their hands than a book.”
Will this new venture work? I hope so. Many said that the internet was never going to work for ministry and outreach purposes, but I for one have to disagree with that, as my blogs are read by many people all over the world. And if this new vision works then we can expect more companies to release more programs and games with a biblical and Christian message.
Personally I would welcome a game about the life of King David, this game would be excellent on the Wii (my kids console of choice)… I can just imagine swinging the controller in an attempt to slay Goliath with the stones
