Can’t or Won’t

Category: Faithblogs

I was just on YouTube recently and came across a video of an amazing rock guitarist called Rick Renstrom. Renstrom has played with the likes of Rob Rock, ex-members of Crimson Glory, and Mistheria, as well as appearing on tribute albums to Yngwie Malmsteen and fellow guitar wiz, Jason Becker.

For many years I have been of the personal conviction that people say the word “can’t” far too liberally, easily, and way too often. I have come to believe that the word “can’t” is simply an excuse to say, I probably could do something, but really can’t be bothered.

Maybe something is difficult and takes time. Maybe something is outside of our comfort zone. Maybe it will cost us. So, maybe the question we should ask ourselves when we find ourselves in doubt is, “I can’t or won’t”.

Think about it, how many people who have succeeded ever said the word can’t and camped out on it. What if Billy Graham had said can’t, or Martin Luther King Jr. or William Wilberforce or the Apostle Paul? And what if they hadn’t?

Anyways, enough of my ranting, enjoy this video. The music may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but you have to admit Rick Renstrom is a pretty amazing individual with an extraordinary gift.

Be inspired and keep it real!
